What do you think? Do you like them or, like me, do you think they just don't capture the essence of Amy's art? I've seen some in the Pyramid Collection catalogue, and, while they're pretty, they just ain't the same. I don't know, just opinionating.

Re: Amy Brown Figurines
Thu, April 14, 2005 - 8:57 PMI might be wrong...I thought they were Amy Brown ornaments in the Pyramid Catalog, but they were by another artist whose work looks suspiciously like Amy's. Maybe Amy doesn't even make figurines. I hope not, you can't recreate perfection, IMO. -

Fri, April 15, 2005 - 6:12 AMThe fairy diva ornaments are recreations of amys work:

Some of them I like, but others just don't do her work justice. If you look at the proofs she drew for them to work with you can kinda tell she held herself back a bit to make it easier for them to attempt to recreate them. Myself I think they're kinda pricey and I'd rather buy her awesome prints instead.

Tue, May 3, 2005 - 2:36 PMI have to say that I do like some of the figurines, the ones in Dancing Dragon and the Fantasy catalogs aren't too bad. I thought she actually did some of her own figurines? -

Re: Amy Brown Figurines
Fri, August 26, 2005 - 2:05 PMThere are two different manufacturers but the art is Amy's. The ornaments, or Fairy Divas, are made by Add an Accent. There are lots of the ornaments, including mermaids and dragons www.magicalomaha.com/AmyBrow...tion.htm . Add an Accent will be coming out 12 Nene Thomas ornaments as well.
They also make the Jessica Galbreth Zodiac Fairies

The larger statues are made by Signature Series

The best ornaments are made by Munro, the detail is amazing:

She does not do any of her own figurines. Artist license manufacturers to make them. She is far too busy creating gorgeous fairies for us to enjoy! -

The Eclipse in the Pyramid Collection was the very first one made and not even close to be one of the best. Bewitched, Winter Soltice, and Gothic are my favs.

Re: Amy Brown Figurines
Mon, September 19, 2005 - 10:10 PMIt is important to understand two factors here: 1) She is a painter, not a sculptor. You can't look down upon her for not creating them herself. The amount of time it takes to paint well is formidable. 2) Part of the appeal of her imagery is that the figures are impossibly engaged with thier environments, which is why we like them. The Fae is part of the forest. Of coarse she had to hold back, as a figurine is a self contained piece, while the figure in the painting is PART of a self contained piece.
Also, really, for the amount of work she's done, she deserves to sit back and let someone else sculpt. Whew!
